Berlin-based food delivery giant, Delivery Hero, has recently announced plans to close down two of its tech hubs and implement job cuts, as part of its strategy to enhance operational efficiency and bolster profitability.

Delivery Hero has made the decision to shut down its tech hubs in Turkey and Taiwan, while also discontinuing support roles within its global teams. This move is aimed at optimizing its operations and increasing profitability across various markets.

In addition to the measures previously announced earlier this year, the company expects these cuts to result in a reduction of approximately 13% of its workforce at its Berlin headquarters and global service teams by 2023. While no specific number of employees has been provided, Delivery Hero acknowledges the impact this decision will have on those individuals who have made significant contributions during their time with the company.

"We recognize that this is an essential step as our business progresses into the next phase of its growth. However, it also means bidding farewell to employees who have played a key role in our success," stated Delivery Hero in a Monday press release.

It remains to be seen how these changes will ultimately shape the future of Delivery Hero's operations, but the company is committed to adapting and optimizing its workforce for sustained growth.
