Acreage Holdings, a leading cannabis company, has announced that its Chief Executive Officer, Dennis Curran, will now also serve as the company's board chairman. This appointment comes as the company aims to streamline its governance structure in preparation for its strategic arrangement with Canopy Growth and Canopy USA.

As part of this restructuring, current Chairman Kevin Murphy and board member Brian Mulroney will be stepping down from their positions. Acreage Holdings is actively evaluating corporate governance actions that will reduce the required number of board members from five to three. In the meantime, Chief Financial Officer Carl Nesbitt and general counsel Corey Sheahan have been appointed to the board on an interim basis.

It is worth noting that Mulroney, a former prime minister of Canada, along with John Boehner, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, and Bill Van Faasen, former chairman of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, were previously serving on the board.
